What are the different 2012 Outback models, and how much does each cost?
The Outback 2.5i is the "entry" model but it comes loaded with a ton of equipment. It comes standard with all wheel drive, vehicle dynamics control to prevent skids, traction control, brake assist that automatically applies maximum brake pressure in a panic stop, roof rails with integrated cross bars, cruise control, audio controls on the steering wheel, cd player, auxiliary jack for your ipod, keyless entry, power windows, power locks, power mirrors, air conditioning, and a ton more.
Available with Lineartronic Continously Variable Transmission or six speed manual if you like to row your own.
MSRP is $24370. Add $1000 for automatic transmission.
The Outback 2.5i Premium with All Weather Package adds $1800. The extra money gets you Bluetooth, USB port, iPod controllability through the audio controls, fog lights, body color mirrors, power front seats, auto up driver window, leather wrapped steering wheel, cargo cover, alloy wheels, upgraded audio, tinted rear windows, heated seats, heated wipers, and heated outside mirrors.
Available with Lineartronic Continously Variable Transmission or six speed manual if you like a handshake. Add $1,000 for automatic transmission and add $1,445 for a moonroof which comes with autodiim mirror and integrated back up camera.
The Outback 2.5i Limited is available only with automatic transmission and adds a 4.3 inch color display screen, HD radio, four months free of XM Select radio, leather upholstery, woodgrain interior trim, dual zone climate control, harman/kardon audio package, and bluetooth connection for hands-free cell phone use.
MSPP is $29,770. Add $1495 for moonroof package which comes with autodim mirror and integrated back up camera. Or, add $2,995 for the moonroof package and navigation system.
The Outback 3.6R Limited upgrades you from the 170 horsepower 2.5 liter four cylinder engine to a 256 horsepower six cylinder engine. The 3.6R comes with a five speed automatic instead of the continuously variable transmission. Fuel economy is 18/25 instead of 22/29. Most people find the four cylinder more than adequate, but the six cylinder is buttery smooth and has enough torque to pull tree stumps.
