The 2020 Subaru Ascent is on sale now at Planet Subaru. Subaru introduced the Ascent as an all-new vehicle for the 2019 model year, and only published two changes for the 2020 Ascent. The engineers added a power rear gate lock function, and a new Rear Seat Reminder system on all trim levels.

The Rear Seat Reminder system is designed to assist the driver in preventing child and/or pet entrapment in the vehicle by reminding the driver to check the rear seat area before exiting the vehicle. While the system cannot physically sense the presence of children or pets in the rear seat area, it will turn on if one of the following conditions is met: the vehicle is started within 30 minutes after a rear side door is opened and closed; a rear side door is opened and closed when the vehicle is running and stationary; the vehicle is turned off and back on again within 30 minutes, and the rear side doors remained closed. The system will alert the driver with an audible sound after the vehicle is turned off and will display a warning message in the Combination Meter Display (CMD), reminding the driver to check the rear seat area.

Subaru used to call its 7-passenger flagship the Tribeca, first introduced for the 2006 model year.  The last one rolled off the assembly line in 2014.  Customers asked for more room in the third row, more power, and more utility.  Now you have it.  Subaru's new flagship bears so little resemblance to the Tribeca that they changed the name.  They start around $32,000 and range to the mid $40s. See current pricing here. With 26 mpg highway fuel economy, a 500 mile range, and NINETEEN cupholders (count them all below), plan on stopping to pee more often than you stop for gas!

We're really impressed after driving the Ascent...plenty of power from a compact, and spacious! We couldn't help ourselves in marveling at just how big it is. The passenger compartment is airy, the panoramic moonroof enormous, and the cargo area as big as a contractor van when the seats are folded down. If you need to haul a lot of lass (and/or lad), you're going to love this vehicle. The quality of the materials and the fit/finish are as nice as vehicles costing a lot more.  Just wait until you hear the sound system!
