Purchase Price
Prefer a new car but can't afford it? Consider leasing or forego the luxury features and buy the base model.
You will generally save thousands over a comparably equipped new car because the first owner absorbed the steepest part of the depreciation curve.
Taxes
You will pay a little more sales tax on a new car because the purchase price is higher. At the Massachusetts sales tax rate of 6.25%, you will pay $62.50 for every extra $1,000 that you spend.
Also, your town or city will charge less personal property tax on an older car.
Finance Rates
Most of our new vehicles have attractive finance rates lower than you will find at a bank because Subaru offers low rates as a purchase incentive.
We work with a variety of local credit unions and national banks who compete aggressively for your loan, so rates for late models can be close to those for new cars. But you can typically expect to add a half point or more to the rate expected for a new car.
Maintenance
Parts on your new Planet Subaru vehicle, such as tires and batteries, are brand new so you can wait years before replacing them. (And with the Planet Passport Program we'll replace those particular items at our expense).
We certify every Planet vehicle and we are very choosy about the used cars we offer for sale. We recondition them ambitiously. However, we don't replace every part so you will encounter maintenance expenses earlier on a used car.
Warranty
Free with every new Planet Subaru vehicle is a 3 year, 36,000 mile comprehensive warranty and 5 year, 60,000 powertrain warranty. You can also buy additional coverage.
You inherit the unused portion (if any) of the factory warranty. You can also buy a service contract which will provide additional protection.
Vehicle History
Worry not about the care invested in your car by the prior owner. Buying a car new is the only way to know a car from birth.
We carefully evaluate the condition and history of a vehicle before offering it for sale. We are happy to show you our service records and the vehicle history report that lists info from various national databases.
Safety Features
Subaru continually improves the engineering and safety features as they introduce new models. For example, the newest Outback offers eight airbags where the previous model only offered six.
Choose the newest model that fits your budget to get as many of the newest safety features as possible.
