Subaru Forester Models, Prices, and Equipment

The 2025 Subaru Forester is available in Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, and Touring trim levels. All are equipped with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and the latest generation of award-winning Subaru EyeSight Driver Assist Technology. The Forester's standard 8.7 inches of ground clearance gives the SUV impressive capability, while an available 11.6-inch SUBARU STARLINK® Multimedia system with wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility offers creature comforts everywhere it goes.

Outside, the all-new design steers the 2025 Forester into a sleek, contemporary shape while retaining the SUV's classic, rugged proportions. The front of the Forester wears a bold grille with compact LED headlights and Subaru's new star cluster emblem. The Forester's flared wheel arches emphasize strength and capability off-road. The new chassis for the 2025 Forester is based on the Subaru Global Platform and has been strengthened to deliver 10% stiffer torsional rigidity compared to the outgoing model.

Contoured dash elements and textured trim accents are designed to withstand the rigors of everyday life, while a dark headliner was strategically intended to hide scuffs and scratches from loading gear, people, and pets into the Forester's spacious rear seats and cargo area. The interior is quieter and more comfortable now thanks to more sound-absorbing materials, more robust welding techniques, and additional structural adhesives, including a 39% reduction in the rate of noise attenuation from the roof panel.

Standard on every 2025 Forester, the latest version of EyeSight is designed to operate more smoothly and quickly and in a broader range of conditions. That is due in part to a wider field of view, updated control software, and the addition of an electric brake booster. EyeSight can identify cyclists and pedestrians at intersections sooner and, when necessary, alert the driver and apply braking to avoid collisions. Additional available safety features include Reverse Automatic Braking, Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

For the first time on Forester, Emergency Stop Assist can stop the SUV if it detects an unresponsive driver when the Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control is active. The system will stop the SUV, activate hazard lights, and unlock the doors. SUBARU STARLINK Connected Services can then call emergency services for help.

All 2025 Foresters have a Rear Seat Reminder that can alert drivers to check the rear seat for occupants or pets to prevent trapping them alone in the vehicle.

Automatic Emergency Steering is equipped on all models with Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Keep Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. The system can help drivers avoid collisions with objects within their lane of travel at speeds 50 mph or slower. An available Surround-View Monitor offers a bird's-eye view of the vehicle and its surroundings to better maneuver the Forester into parking spaces.

The Forester Wilderness carries over from the 2024 model year, continuing in production alongside the all-new 2025 Forester.

2025 Subaru Forester

The 2025 Subaru Forester SUV is well-equipped with impressive standard features including Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive for $29,695. Those features include 17-inch alloy wheels with dark metallic with machine finish, Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering, Steering Responsive LED headlights, dual-zone automatic climate control, roof rails, and SI-DRIVE Engine Performance Management.

All 2025 Forester models are powered by a revised 2.5-liter Subaru BOXER® engine that produces 180 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque paired to a Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission.

Dual 7.0-inch SUBARU STARLINK Multimedia System touchscreens handle infotainment duties with USB-based Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, Bluetooth® hands-free phone and audio streaming, AM/FM radio, Rear-Vision Camera, USB-A charge port, SiriusXM and SiriusXM Travel Link (4-month free trial of SXM Platinum Plan included), and HD Radio®.

A 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat, panoramic power moonroof, rear USB-A and USB-C charge ports, reclining rear seatback, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and all-weather package including heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors, and windshield wiper deicer improve interior comfort. Standard X-MODE® with Hill Descent Control increases capability off-road and in slippery conditions.

An options package for Forester Premium adds a power rear liftgate and Blind-Spot Detection with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert for $1,200.

Forester Sport

With unique styling elements and exceptional curb appeal, the 2025 Subaru Forester Sport stands out as a stylish SUV for $34,495 to start. The Forester Sport adds 19-inch alloy wheels with a bronze finish, a gloss black front grille, a rear "Sport" badge with a bronze finish, and chrome and bronze side badges. Inside, the Forester Sport adds gray StarTex® upholstery with brown stitching, dark gray dash panel, and a unique bronze steering wheel insert.

To further support drivers, the Forester Sport upgrades to dual-function X-MODE with Hill Descent Control, Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Automatic Emergency Steering, and 8-speed manual shift mode with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. In addition to the enhanced styling, the Forester Sport delivers sharper handling with a re-tuned suspension that delivers improved driving stability while retaining ride comfort.

A $1,700 options package adds to Forester Sport a Harman Kardon® premium audio system with a 576-watt equivalent amp and 11 speakers, power rear gate, Reverse Automatic Emergency Braking, and SI-Drive Engine Performance Management (Intelligent and Sport Sharp modes).

Forester Limited

The 2025 Forester Limited adds more creature comforts inside, including leather-trimmed upholstery and driver assistance features for $35,995. Building on features found in the Premium trim level, the Forester Limited adds 18-inch alloy wheels, an 8-way power-adjustable passenger seat, perforated leather-trimmed upholstery with blue contrast stitching, dual-function X-MODE, foot-activated hands-free power rear gate, 8-speed manual shift mode with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, and a 360-degree heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Forester Limited also adds Automatic Emergency Steering and Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.
 
An options package for the Forester Limited adds a Harman Kardon premium audio with 576-watt equivalent amp and 11 speakers, Navigation powered by TomTom®, and Reverse Automatic Braking for $1,600.

Forester Touring

On top of the 2025 Forester lineup, the Touring trim level adds exceptional equipment for comfort and style for $39,995 to start. The Forester Touring rides atop 19-inch alloy wheels and adds a luxury touch with a 360-Degree Surround View Monitor, two-position memory driver's seat and exterior mirrors, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, low-profile roof rack, smart rearview mirror, rear chrome badging and Black or Brown perforated leather-trimmed upholstery with suede bolsters.

The Forester Touring also adds a SUBARU STARLINK 11.6-inch Multimedia Navigation System with Harman Kardon premium audio with 576-watt equivalent amp and 11 speakers, DriverFocus® Distraction Mitigation System, and Reverse Automatic Braking.

2024 Forester Wilderness

The rugged 2024 Forester Wilderness will continue in production alongside the all-new 2025 Forester and has an unchanged starting price of $34,920. 

The Wilderness maintains its unique front fascia with hexagonal front grille and hexagonal LED fog lights, as well as a useful anti-glare hood decal in matte black to diffuse direct sunlight on the trails. 

Inside, water-resistant StarTex seating surfaces, all-weather mats, and a cargo tray are all well-prepared for muddy feet and gear with wash-and-ready attitudes.

The Wilderness offers a smart option package with an 8.0-inch SUBARU STARLINK Multimedia Navigation system, Harman Kardon premium audio system with a 576-watt equivalent amp and nine speakers and power rear gate for $1,850.

The 2024 Forester delivers the optimal blend of SUV capability and car-like ride and handling with standard Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, Active Torque Vectoring and Vehicle Dynamics Control. The standard 8.7 inches of ground clearance for Forester (9.2 inches for Forester Wilderness) is greater than that of many SUVs, yet the compact SUV maintains a comfortably low step-in height for both front and rear passenger entry.

All 2024 Forester models are powered by a 2.5-liter SUBARU BOXER®  engine paired to a Lineartronic® CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). The highly efficient engine produces 182 hp and 176 lb-ft of torque, while delivering an EPA-estimated 33 mpg on highways. Standard SI-DRIVE Engine Performance Management system features driver-selectable "Intelligent" and "Sport" modes for a customizable driving experience.

The Forester comes standard with 60/40 split flat-folding seats offering up to 74.2 cubic feet of  cargo space. The rear gate opening maximum width is 51.2 inches, allowing customers more flexibility for loading items. A power rear gate is standard on Limited and Touring trim levels and available as an option for Premium, Sport and Wilderness. For additional versatility, the SUV has a towing capacity up to 1,500 pounds (3,000 pounds for Wilderness) and comes standard with Trailer Stability Assist.

Standard EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology features Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control; Pre-Collision Braking; Pre-Collision Throttle Management; Lane Departure and Sway Warning and Lead Vehicle Start Alert. Automatic Emergency Steering is included on models equipped with Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. The safety feature works with EyeSight and Blind-Spot Detection to assist with steering control to help avoid a collision at speeds less than 50 mph.

As in prior model years, all Forester models come standard with seven airbags: driver and front passenger frontal airbags, side curtain airbags, side pelvis/torso airbags and a driver's knee airbag.

The Subaru Forester received the 2023 Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) TOP SAFETY PICK award. This marks the 17th consecutive year Forester has earned an IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK (2007-2023) - more than any other small SUV. In addition, Forester received the highest possible rating for front crash prevention from IIHS.

Introducing the 2024 Forester
The 2024 Subaru Forester continues the automaker's long-running practice of offering top safety and value across the model line. The 2024 Subaru Forester has a starting price of $26,895 and comes equipped with a long list of standard features including Steering Responsive LED headlights (low and high beam) with High Beam Assist; Rear Seat Reminder; remote keyless entry system with engine immobilizer; power windows, door locks and side mirrors; a multi-function display; and combination meter with color LCD.

The SUBARU STARLINK® 6.5-inch Multimedia system with a high-resolution touchscreen; smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto compatibility; and Bluetooth® hands-free streaming and phone connectivity is standard. The front center console comes equipped with a USB-A input/charge port and 3.5mm auxiliary jack. Audio and Bluetooth® controls for phone and multimedia are conveniently located on the steering wheel.

A popular option package is available on Forester that adds 17-inch silver-finished alloy wheels and black-finished roof rails with convenient tie-down points. The roof rails offer a dynamic capacity of 176 pounds with a 700-pound static load limit, which is robust enough for a rooftop tent. The option package is priced at $625 MSRP.

Forester Premium
The 2024 Forester Premium builds on the Base trim with more comfort, convenience, and technology for a starting price of $30,095. The Premium adds a standard All-Weather Package with heated front seats, heated exterior power-adjustable exterior mirrors and a windshield wiper de-icer. A 10-way, power-adjustable driver's seat; 17-inch alloy wheels in black with machine finish; X-MODE® with Hill-Descent Control; panoramic power moonroof; leather-wrapped steering wheel; ladder-style roof rails; and Keyless Access with Push-button Start are also standard on Premium. New for 2024, LED fog lights and a Crystal Black Silica rear roof spoiler are standard.

Forester Sport
The 2024 Forester Sport, which is priced from $31,665 MSRP, adds unique interior and exterior elements to set it apart from the Forester range with an eye toward customers looking for a practical SUV with flair. The Forester Sport adds exclusive gloss black exterior trim in the front and rear,  black-finished 18-inch alloy wheels and a black rear roof spoiler. On the sides, orange accents adorn the cladding and roof-rail mounts. Inside, the Forester Sport features unique dark gray cloth upholstery with orange contrast stitching on the seats, shift knob, steering wheel and center console.

For drivability, the Forester Sport adds SUBARU SI-DRIVE with driver-selectable "Intelligent" and "Sport Sharp" modes. For more engaging drives, the Lineartronic CVT includes steering wheel-mounted paddle-shift controls with 7-speed manual shifting. The Sport also upgrades to dual-function X-MODE for more off-road confidence. Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert comes standard along with Automatic Emergency Steering.

The Forester Wilderness does not sacrifice the SUV's quiet, car-like ride and exceptional outward vision with its increased capability, making it the perfect companion on the way to the trailhead and beyond.

The 2024 Wilderness increases ground clearance to 9.2 inches thanks to longer coil springs and shock absorbers. The enhanced suspension also increases trail capability while delivering the comfortable ride the Forester is known for. The Wilderness subs in 17-inch matte-black alloy wheels wrapped in All-Terrain Yokohama GEOLANDAR® tires for increased traction on muddy or wet roads or trails. A full-size spare is tucked underneath the cargo area for added confidence off the pavement.

The Wilderness also gets a unique front fascia with hexagonal front grille and hexagonal LED fog lights, as well as a useful anti-glare hood decal in matte black to diffuse direct sunlight on the trails. Larger cladding around the wheels and a front skid plate help to protect the Forester Wilderness off-road, while offering a visually distinct appearance from the rest of the lineup.

Inside, water-resistant StarTex® seating surfaces, all-weather mats, and a cargo tray are all well-prepared for muddy feet and gear with wash-and-ready attitudes. Forester Limited
Starting from $33,775, the 2024 Forester Limited is well-equipped with convenience features that make it a standout among competitors without sacrificing capability. The Limited builds on the Premium trim level and adds 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels in black with machine finish, body-colored exterior mirrors with integrated turn signals, and black geometric-textured fog light covers, the last of which are new for 2024.

The Limited is thoughtfully equipped with Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert; SUBARU STARLINK 8.0-inch Multimedia Plus System; dual USB-A charge ports in the rear center console; dual-zone automatic climate control with voice-activated controls; one-touch folding rear seatbacks; and Power Rear Gate. Inside, the Limited is finished with leather-trimmed upholstery, including a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift lever handle and a center dash panel finished with silver metallic and gloss black.

Forester Touring
The Forester Limited sits atop the range for 2024 and is equipped with standout features making it equally comfortable and capable. Priced at $37,195, the Touring offers convenience features not typically found at its price point including the innovative DriverFocus® Distraction Mitigation System including gesture control capability that allows the driver to raise and lower the automatic climate control temperature via hand gestures.

Other convenience features include rear heated seats at the outboard positions, a heated steering wheel, black perforated leather-trimmed upholstery with silver stitching or saddle brown perforated leather-trimmed upholstery with silver and brown stitching. The driver's seat is 10-way power adjustable with power lumbar adjustment and two-driver memory and the passenger seat is 8-way power adjustable.

The Forester Touring is visually distinct from the rest of the lineup with 18-inch alloy wheels in dark gray with machine finish, satin chrome exterior folding mirrors with integrated turn signals, and LED fog lights with black and chrome textured covers. The Forester Touring includes roof rails with a silver finish; chrome exterior badging; and front, rear and side valances with silver metallic finish.
   

The 2023 Forester will be offered in six trim levels: Base, Premium, Sport, Wilderness, Limited, and Touring.

Priced at $26,395, the compact SUV comes standard with a long list of features including power windows, door locks, and side mirrors; dual USB-A input/charge ports in the front center console; multi-function display; remote keyless entry; and combination meter with color LCD.

Also standard is the SUBARU STARLINK® 6.5-inch Multimedia Plus system with high-resolution touchscreen, smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™ and Bluetooth® hands-free phone and audio streaming connectivity; SiriusXM® and TravelLink® (4-month free Platinum Plan subscription); and CD player.  

An option package upgrades the Base model with 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels in silver finish and a ladder-type roof rail design with convenient tie-down points. The rail system offers a dynamic load capacity of 176-lb. and a 700-lb static load limit, allowing safe use of a roof-top tent. The option package has an MSRP of $625.

Forester Premium
The 2023 Forester Premium, priced from $29,395, adds a considerable upgrade over the Base in comfort, convenience, and available tech. The standard All-Weather Package includes heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors, and windshield wiper de-icer. The Premium also adds a 10-way power driver's seat with power lumbar support; 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels in black with machine finish; ladder-type roof rails; dark tint privacy glass; panoramic power moonroof; and Keyless Access with Push-Button Start.

For improved off-pavement performance, the Forester Premium trim features standard X-MODE® with Hill Descent Control. The Premium trim's interior is upgraded with a leather-wrapped steering wheel with silver stitching; center dash panel trim in black with silver metallic finish; and chrome inner door handles.

The Premium offers a single option package that includes Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert; Automatic Emergency Steering; dual USB-A charge ports in rear center console; and a Power Rear Gate with automatic close and height memory. Forester Sport
With a starting price of $30,965, the 2023 Forester Sport offers unique exterior and interior elements for a youthful and sporty appearance as well as enhanced standard equipment over the Premium, including Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Automatic Emergency Steering as well as and dual USB-A charge ports in rear center console.  

The exterior of the Sport trim is adorned with exclusive gloss black trim as well as black-finish 18-inch wheels and a black rear roof spoiler. Orange accents are featured on the side and front lower valances and roof rail mounts. An orange SPORT badge adds a striking yet complementary contrast on the rear of the vehicle. The exclusive Sport interior features a unique dark gray color scheme with orange stitching and accents throughout the cabin.

In addition, the Sport trim features dual-function X-MODE for increased capability in a wider range of conditions.

Forester Wilderness
Building on the extensive feature content in the Premium trim, the 2023 Forester Wilderness uniquely adds a slew of exclusive mechanical, design, and functional enhancements for added capability on the roads and trails less traveled. Critically, the rugged model preserves the Forester's renowned blend of SUV capability and car-like ride and handling. The Forester Wilderness has a starting price of $34,020.

Exclusive chassis suspension components give the Wilderness 9.2-inch ground clearance, a half-inch increase over the other Forester models, which already had among the highest in their segment. Longer coil springs and shock absorbers provide the added road clearance, while special tuning helps maintain the Forester's exceptional ride and handling performance with the increased height.

The Wilderness comes equipped with Yokohama GEOLANDAR® all-terrain tires for increased traction on muddy or gravel roads.  Mounted on exclusive 17-inch alloy wheels in matte black finish, the tires are embossed with raised white letters. A standard full-size tire is stored under the cargo the area, giving owners confidence while on the trails.

To visually communicate the more capable off-road performance, the Wilderness has a unique front fascia with hexagonal front grille and hexagonal LED fog lights as well as an anti-glare hood decal in matte-black finish. The Wilderness is also kitted with larger wheel arch cladding and a front skid plate.

Numerous interior details including water resistant StarTex® seating surfaces, all-weather mats, and cargo tray make the Wilderness especially suited to carrying outdoors gear, even when wet or muddy. A single option package is available for the 2023Wilderness that includes SUBARU STARLINK® 8.0-inch Multimedia Navigation system, Harman Kardon® premium speaker system, and a Power Rear Gate. The option package has a MSRP of $1,850.

Forester Limited
Priced at $33,075, the 2023 Forester Limited includes all features from the Premium and is visually distinguished with 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels in black with machine finish; exterior mirrors in matching body color with integrated turn signals, and dark gray accent trim for the fog lights.

The Limited comes standard with Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. Its roster of upgraded features includes STARLINK 8-inch Multimedia Plus; perforated leather-trimmed upholstery; silver metallic with gloss black finish center dash panel trim; leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift lever handle; dual-zone automatic climate control with voice-activated controls; dual USB-A charge ports in the rear center console, and a power rear gate with auto close and height memory. The Limited adds Automatic Emergency Steering and 1-Touch Folding Rear Seatback.

The Limited offers a single option package with Reverse Automatic Braking, STARLINK 8-inch Multimedia with Navigation powered by TomTom®, Harman Kardon premium speaker system and a Heated Steering Wheel. The MSRP of this package is $1,695.

Forester Touring
Continuing as the top of the model line, the 2023 Forester Touring is priced at $36,495. The Touring includes the full list of standard and optional features from the Limited and adds the innovative DriverFocus® Distraction Mitigation System that includes gesture control capability, allowing the driver to raise and lower the set temperature of the automatic climate control system through hand gestures.  

The exterior of the Touring is distinguished by 18-inch alloy wheels in dark gray with machine finish, satin chrome exterior folding mirrors with integrated turn signals, and LED fog lights with chrome trim. This flagship trim level features roof rails with a silver finish, corresponding to the silver finish on the front, rear and side valances as well as the chrome exterior badges.

The Forester Touring cabin offers a choice of exclusive Black or Saddle Brown perforated leather trimmed upholstery; 10-way power driver's seat with 2-position memory (includes power lumbar support); 8-way power front passenger seat; and heated outboard rear seats. LEDs are used for cargo-area and dome lights with off-delay, as well as the rear gate.
